I wonder why some unknown police came first and said that it was suicide rather than waiting for the investigation team that actually specializes in the field

the first responding officer has discretion in these matters. until a superior arrives the 1st officer on the location is the one responsible for the scene and all contents. if a street cop sees: a suicide note, no signs of forced entry, no sign of struggle, nothing obviously stolen/missing (TV, electronics, purse/wallet empty of cash-cards-etc.)... it is automatic to say suicide and move forwards with that declaration. just because you have one hysterical witness screaming the walls down 'murder murder murder!' does NOT mean you throw caution to the wind. if he had called in: the crime scene techs, the murder squad, and suchforth for an average suicide, he would be up shit creek w/o a paddle. that street cop was REACHING calling in a medical examiner! if his boss found out, he'd be piloting a desk filling out lost/stolen bicycle forms!

the smart thing for that street cop to do? get on his radio, 'dispatch i've got an unaccompanied death. scene is secure. send field supervisor to this location.' pass the damn buck to his boss and let his boss make the decision.

23:35, I feel like that note is wrong, I thought he was just choking on the mochi since he didn't chew it enough. People die every year due to mochi in Japan, usually it's elderly people around New Years.
